Registration Holds
If you have a hold on your record, you should first check your MyU home page and navigate to the “Holds” tab at the bottom of the page. You may view any holds on your record and their impacts. You can click the “more…” link to learn how to resolve the hold and a lightbox will appear with more information about the hold and whom to contact to resolve the hold. The CFANS Student Services Office is limited to clearing only the holds we assign.
Orientation (RS) Hold
If you did not attend orientation when you first enrolled in the college, a hold was put on your record. If you contact us, we can make arrangements for you to participate in the next orientation session. Your hold will be removed after you participate in an orientation program.
Advising/Planning Hold
Academic advising holds are placed on all CFANS students’ records; holds will remain on students’ records each semester in which they are enrolled in the college.
All new students are required to have in-person advising meetings with their assigned academic advisors for the first three semesters in the college. To have this hold temporarily released, you must schedule an appointment to meet with your assigned advisor to discuss your academic plans. Once you meet with your advisor, the advising hold will be temporarily released so you can register for classes.
Beginning with the fourth semester, students are required to make a contact with their advisor (e.g. this may be an in-person appointment, email communication, phone call, skype appointment, etc.). The purpose of this contact is to discuss your academic plans. Once you make contact with your advisor, the advising hold will be temporarily released so you can register for classes.
Probation Hold
Students whose academic work has not met the minimum standards set by the college and the University have probation holds put on their records. The intent of the hold is to ensure that you are working with your advisor to get your academic program back on the right track.
Removing a Probation Hold
To remove the hold for registration:
- Complete the Academic Success worksheet and contract, then make an appointment to meet with your advisor to discuss your plans for improving your academic success.
- Your advisor will temporarily change the hold on your record following your probation meeting, and you will be able to register at that time.
