National Student-Athlete Day, which was created to honor the achievements of high school and college student-athletes, is Sunday, April 6. Max Breunig is a captain of the University of Minnesota Men’s Lacrosse team and a CFANS student.

Academic journey

“I am a senior studying Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. I've always loved the outdoors and I'm a huge birder. I'm also in ROTC and going to fly blackhawks for the Minnesota National Guard after I graduate.”

Lacrosse as a lifelong passion

“I've played lacrosse for about 12 years now and I have always wanted to play collegiate lacrosse since I was young. I've been a part of the Gopher Men's Club Lacrosse team since I was a freshman and I'm now a captain for my senior year. My favorite memory came this spring lacrosse season when we upset the #4 ranked team in the country.”

Finding balance

“Finding balance was tougher when I was a freshman and wasn't used to the rigor of college, lacrosse, and ROTC, but making friends and finding my support system has made it loads easier.”
