A celebratory start to fall semester

CFANS welcomed several hundred incoming students to the St. Paul campus on College Day during Welcome Week, joining us from all across Minnesota, 25 different states, and seven countries — bringing perspectives from as far as Malaysia, Uganda, Saudi Arabia, and right here in our own backyard. Among them are student-athletes, military veterans, President’s Emerging Scholars, Land-Grant Legacy Scholars, and University Honors students. These incoming students bring their own unique stories, and together, they form a community capable of solving some of the greatest challenges of our time.
"Beyond the labs and fields, your time here is about discovering your voice and your network," said CFANS Interim Dean Linda Nagel to students on College Day. "You’ll find your crew in our student organizations, build career pathways through internships, and create memories that span from the green spaces of St. Paul to game days in Minneapolis and beyond. So take a moment to soak it all in. You are here because of your potential, your curiosity, and your drive to make a difference."
The University of Minnesota celebrated Welcome Week with a Maroon and Gold Launch including samples of the new 175th anniversary ice cream created in partnership with CFANS.
