Mentor connections and internship leads: A successful Career Month for CFANS students
Each year during February, Career Month is offered as a way for University of Minnesota students to engage in a variety of career fairs, mentorship events, and networking opportunities.
Connecting with professionals in their field of interest
CFANS students attended Networking Night, an annual College event offering extensive opportunities to connect and discuss career options with industry professionals. The North Star Ballroom buzzed with the conversations of more than 90 students and professionals in attendance.
Both students and professionals shared positive feedback from the opportunity to connect with each other:
"I enjoyed being in a relaxed setting and the opportunity to meet one-on-one with outstanding alumni." -Student attendee
"I got to connect with amazing, accomplished yet humble people. They were very pleasant to talk to. As an international student, I felt very accommodated and heard in this event. I admire these people and wish to meet more people from research." - Student attendee
"The students!! They are so passionate and have so much insight to add to our workforce!" -Professional attendee
"The speed networking portion of the event helped students to get to the heart of what they are most interested in about companies and how that connects to their plan after graduation." -Professional attendee
Don't miss out on the next opportunity to participate in the CFANS Mentor Program and Networking Night.
Opportunities abound at an environmental career fair
Nearly 70 employers greeted CFANS and University students in attendance at the Environmental Internship and Career Fair held in February.
Students had the opportunity to connect with organizations for full-time opportunities and internships and make an impression to stand out in the job or internship application process, attend a workshop on landing a federal job, and take advantage of free professional headshots offered on-site. In advance of the event, Career and Internship Services offered drop-in resume review and a career fair prep session to ask questions.
