CFANS Celebrates Homecoming with a Sampler and Parade Party
The CFANS Sampler and Homecoming Parade Party took place on September 29, an annual event hosted by CFANS Alumni Society, Undergraduate Student Board, Graduate Student Board, and the Postdoc Board. Approximately 300 CFANS students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other UMN community members attended the event along the parade route on East Bank.
Guests experienced the fruition of CFANS research through samples of Minnesota-variety apples from the Department of Horticulture, cheese and ice cream from the Pilot Plant in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, baked goods made with Kernza, and plant-based meatballs from PURIS. The Bell Museum, the Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing program, and the Department of Plant Pathology engaged visitors in fun science activities.
CFANS was represented in the Homecoming Parade in multiple ways: the CFANS Undergraduate Student Board drove a tractor along the route, the UMN Forestry Club & SAF Student Chapter walked in chainsaw chaps and climbing gear, and Animal Science student Weston Schwecke was a member of the Homecoming Royalty Court.
