Southern Research and Outreach Center Winter Crops Day

January 17, 9 AM - 4 PM

The Southern Research & Outreach Center will host Winter Crops Day on Friday, January 17, 2020 in Waseca and Rochester. The programs will feature the following presentations and speakers:

Each program begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. Registration is $40 (cash or check only) and includes handouts, lunch and refreshments. The Rochester program will be at the Heintz Center, 1926 College Drive. The Waseca program will be at the Southern Research and Outreach Center, 35838 120th Street. CEUs for certified crop advisers have been applied for. 

Waseca program agenda:

  • 9 to 10:30 a.m.—pH and Liming Southern Minnesota Soils—Jeff Vetsch, Soil Scientist
  • 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—Sulfur and Micro Nutrients for Crop Production—Daniel Kaiser, Extension Nutrient Management Specialist
  • 1 to 2 p.m.—Keeping Ahead of Insect and Disease Pests—Bruce Potter, Extension IPM Specialist
  • 2 to 3 p.m.—Using Drones for Evaluating and Making In-Crop Decisions—Austin Dobbel, Graduate Research Assistant, Dept of Agronomy and Plant Genetics
  • 3 to 4 p.m.—Herbicide Technology Traits: Best Choices for Your Farm—Tom Hoverstad, Agronomist; Lisa Behnken and Ryan Miller, Regional Extension Educators
