We intuitively understand the link between soil and water, and researchers have demonstrated that land management practices impact water quality. Yet, soil health principles are underutilized for managing water resources.

This symposium will explore:

  • What strategies do researchers use to make connections between soil properties at a point or field scale and water quality across a catchment or watershed?
  • What do we know about the mechanisms connecting soil properties and water?
  • What are the research gaps preventing us from effectively leveraging soil health approaches to managing water for agricultural and environmental objectives?
