Several hundred one-year scholarships are awarded to CFANS undergraduates each year. Rather than applying for each scholarship individually, we have a streamlined single application process used to award scholarship funds on behalf of the college and academic departments.
The application for scholarships that will be applied during Academic Year 2020-21 is now closed. It will re-open mid-December 2020 for scholarships that will be applied during Academic Year 2021-22.
To be eligible for a CFANS Academic Year Scholarship, you must be enrolled as a full-time CFANS student—at least 13 credits per semester. The only exception is a need-based scholarship for the summer Cloquet field sessions. You must also show evidence of making progress towards graduation in an approved CFANS major, and remain in good academic standing. Students in all CFANS majors are eligible to apply.
Students with multiple-year or multiple-semester awards from CFANS that carry into the 2020-2021 academic year are not eligible for additional college scholarships. Students who will be in their sixth year or beyond in 2020-2021 are not eligible to receive a college scholarship.
If you are not eligible for a college scholarship you may still use this application to apply for a department/major scholarship. Apply and write "Department Scholarship Application Only" in the first line of your response to question #1 on the application and then complete the rest of the questions. Note that your major may have a specific question at the end of the application form. Please contact the scholarship coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any trouble accessing the application.
Students in the following majors will be considered for department/major scholarships by filling out this application:
- Agricultural Education
- Agricultural and Food Business Management
- Agricultural Communication and Marketing
- Applied Economics
- Environmental Sciences Policy and Management (juniors only)
- Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology
- Food Science
- Food Systems
- Forest and Natural Resource Management
- Plant Science
If you are in a different major, your department (such as Animal Science) may offer scholarships but is using a separate application process and may have a separate deadline. Talk to your department directly for more information.
The application is now closed for scholarships that will be applied during academic year 2020-21. The deadline to submit an application is March 1, 2020 at 11:59 pm. You must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in a CFANS major in order to log into the application.
Only a completed online application will be reviewed by the CFANS Scholarship Committee. You may log into the application as many times as you want before the deadline and make changes before completing the final "submit" step. Please be sure to read the instructions and checklist at the end of the application. Incomplete and unsubmitted applications will not be reviewed. You may want to prepare all your short answer responses in advance, then copy and paste your information into the application form when you're ready to submit it.
The scholarship committee selects recipients based on criteria established by the donors of each available scholarship. Some scholarship criteria are outlined on the application. The committee will screen applications and make decisions based on the information you submit.
