CFANS Academic Year Scholarships

Several hundred one-year scholarships are awarded to CFANS undergraduates each year. Rather than applying for each scholarship individually, we have a streamlined single application process used to award scholarship funds on behalf of the college and academic departments.

The application for scholarships that will be applied during Academic Year 2024-25 has closed as of March 1, 2024. If you applied for scholarships for AY 2024-25 you can expect to hear back about the status of your application near the end of May 2024.

The next application cycle will open mid-December 2024.

Eligibility

Eligibility

To be eligible for a CFANS Academic Year Scholarship, you must be enrolled as a full-time CFANS undergraduate student—at least 12 credits per semester. The only exception is for need-based scholarships for field sessions. You must also show evidence of making progress towards graduation in an approved CFANS major, and remain in good academic standing. If you will be graduating during fall semester of the upcoming year you may still apply, and could be awarded a single-semester scholarship as long as you will be enrolled full-time during that final semester. Students in all CFANS majors are eligible to apply.

Students with multiple-year or multiple-semester awards from CFANS that carry into the 2024-25 academic year are not eligible for additional college scholarships, but may complete the application to be considered for department scholarships. Students who will be in their sixth year or beyond in 2024-25 are not eligible to receive a college scholarship.

Note: This application is only for current CFANS undergraduate students. Prospective students: please see scholarship information for incoming freshmen and transfer students.

You may log into the application as many times as you want before the deadline and make changes before completing the final "submit" step. Please be sure to read the instructions and checklist at the end of the application. Incomplete and unsubmitted applications will not be reviewed. You may want to prepare all your short answer responses in advance, then copy and paste your information into the application form when you're ready to submit it.

Selection

Selection

The scholarship committee selects recipients based on criteria established by the donors of each available scholarship. Some scholarship criteria are outlined on the application. The committee will screen applications and make decisions based on the information you submit.

Timing and notification

Timing and notification

CFANS will email you in May, typically near the end of the month, to tell you which scholarship(s) you have been awarded, if any. If you also applied for federal financial aid by completing the FAFSA, you will receive a second notice in July that outlines your complete financial aid package.
