Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships $500

Deadline to apply: September 30, 2019

Farm Bureau awards four $500 scholarships at the annual meeting in November. Eligible applicants include any person who is a Farm Bureau member or qualifies under their family's membership. Applicants must be going into their junior or senior year in college and be enrolled in agriculture, conservation, or forestry. Learn more. 


Throlson American Bison Foundation Scholarships

Majors: Agricultural and Food Business Management, Applied Economics, Animal Science
Deadline to apply: October 1, 2019

The Throlson American Bison Foundation awards scholarships totaling $9,000 to college junior, senior or graduate students studying fields related to the bison industry. The scholarship is for the Spring 2017 semester. For more information visit the National Bison Association website.


Gates-Cambridge Scholarships

Covers the cost of a graduate degree program at Cambridge University for students in any academic discipline. Competitive applicants will have exceptional academic records, notable character, leadership and public service, and a strong rationale for studying at Cambridge. Learn more.


Craig Sallstrom Memorial Scholarship $1000

Majors: Food Systems, Plant Science
Deadline to apply: November 1, 2019

This scholarship will be awarded by the Minnesota Crop Production Retailers (MCPR)to a student entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in a major focused on crop production. Applicant must be a Minnesota resident; application involves two short essays, one letter of recommendation and official transcript. Download the application from the MCPR website.


U of M Asian American and Pacific Islander Scholarship

Deadline to apply: November 6, 2019

The AANAPISI Scholarship is open to all U of M undergraduates who identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander (AAPI). The scholarship will award up to a one-time scholarship of $2,500 for the 2019 fall semester or a multi-year $5,000 scholarship - depending on the availability of funds. Multiple students will also be awarded based on funding availability. See application.

Cover the cost of a Master’s degree in China Studies at Peking University. Successful applicants will have outstanding academic records, strong records of leadership and public service, and clearly defined plans for study in China. Learn more.


Goldwater Scholarships

$7500 toward undergraduate educational expenses for sophomores and juniors in STEM fields with outstanding academic records and significant research experience who plan to have careers related to research. Learn more.


Lake Minnetonka Garden Club Scholarship

Lake Minnetonka Garden Club (LMGC) will provide up to $2500 annually, awarded to one student or divided between two students. Scholarships will be awarded on merit with consideration given to GPA, letters of recommendation, community activities, associations or organizations, work experience and plans after graduation. Avacare Medical Scholarship $1000

Boren Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: January 6, 2020

Up to $20,000 for study abroad with a focus on immersive language study, especially in those languages identified as critical by the State Department. Applicants interested in careers with the U.S. government are favored, and all recipients must commit to a year of service related to national security. Learn more.


Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) Young Leader Scholarship Program

Majors: Agriculture-related
Deadline to apply: Janauary 14, 2020

Candidates will be top-potential collegiate sophomores or juniors with an educational focus on agriculture. Candidates must be enrolled at one of the 14 Land-Grant Universities and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably within the crop protection industry. Recipients will receive a $2,000 scholarship plus an all-expenses travel stipend to attend the MACA Annual Meeting in Missouri in September 2020. Applications are submitted to the CFANS Scholarship Coordinator; the college will submit up to 3 finalists to MACA for final selection.

Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association Scholarship

Majors: Animal Science
Deadline to apply: January 31, 2020

The UMDIA Gene Watnaas Scholarship Fund provides up to two $1000 scholarships for students pursuing a degree in Animal Science with dairy production emphasis or Dairy Food Science. See application materials.


The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship

Majors: Disciplines related to oceanic, environmental, biological and atmospheric sciences, engineering, hydrology, and other related areas
Deadline to apply: January 31, 2020

The Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer. Successful applicants should be a full-time 2nd year student with a 3.0 minimum GPA. See the NOAA website for full application details.


National Garden Clubs Scholarships $4000

Central Minnesota Farm Show Scholarships

The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce will be awarding at least five scholarships at $1000 each for undergraduates enrolled in an agricultural related program. Limited to students who graduated from high school in central Minnesota counties. See the website for eligible counties and application.

Frances Sylvia Zverina Scholarship $9,000

Awarded by the Western Reserve Herb Society. For students with demonstrated financial need who are studying horticulture or a related field, and whose horticultural career goals involve teaching/ research, sustainable local agriculture or work in the public or nonprofit sector.  Applicant must have completed two full years of college and have achived a GPA of 3.2+ to be eligible. See details and application.


Horticulture Scholarship of the Western Reserve Herb Society 

Majors: Food Systems, Plant Science
Deadline to apply: February 28, 2020

Awarded by the Western Reserve Herb Society. For students with demonstrated financial need and plans a career in horticulture and allied fields.  Applicant must have completed two full years of college and have achieved a GPA of 3.2+ to be eligible. See details and application.


Targeting Excellence Scholarships $2000

Majors: Animal Science most relevant
Deadline to apply: March 2, 2020

$2000 scholarships are available for students completing a 4-year degree in an agricultural program. Preference will be given to applicants with a desire to work in some aspect of food animal production. For more information, visit the Targeting Excellence website.


Cargill Global Scholars Program

The Cargill Global Scholars Program is a distinctive, 2-year scholarship and enrichment program providing financial support, mentorship, and the unique opportunity for U.S. college students to travel to two leadership development seminars, including meeting fellow Global Scholars from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, and Russia. Intertribal Timber Council Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program $2500

Majors: For Native American/ Alaskan Natural Resources students
Deadline to apply: March 13, 2020

The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program is dedicated to the support of Native American students pursuing a higher education in Natural Resources.  The application involves a letter, resume, transcript and evidence of enrollment, as well as three reference letters. The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Scholarship in Entrepreneurship

The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship honors the legacy of Lynn Johnson, founder of the St. Paul-based Johnson Brothers Liquor Company. The scholarship will support full-time UMTC juniors and seniors, with financial need, who have a strong, demonstrated interest in entrepreneurial initiatives. As many as 5 new scholarships will be awarded at up to $5000 for the academic year to help cover students’ cost of attendance.

Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry Scholarship $5000

Majors: Agriculture-related or Forest and Natural Resource Management

For students entering Junior or Senior year; the successful applicant will be from the greater Rochester area which includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore,Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona. The succesful applicant has demonstrated leadership and communication skills and is pursuing a career in sustainable agriculture and/or forestry. See application for more information.

Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Gamebird Industry Scholarship

The 2020 scholarship is offered in memorial to the late Jeannine Kuhl, whose work with Kuhl Corp has been an essential part of the gamebird industry. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase awareness,and support career opportunities in the gamebird industry. Consideration may also include applicants with an interest in strongly related fields like upland gamebird hunting clubs, vet sci or vet research programs. Proven Winners Horticulture Scholarship $5000

Minnesota Pork Industry Scholarship

Majors: Agricultural Food and Business Management; Agricultural Communication and Marketing; Animal Science; Applied Economics; Environmental Science, Policy and Management; Nutrition

The Minnesota Pork Board will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to individuals who are pursuing careers with an emphasis in pork. Among qualifying educational pursuits are agribusiness, agricultural engineering, agronomy, animal science, animal physiology, environmental sciences, nutrition, livestock reproduction, large animal veterinary medicine and other related fields. Syngenta Agricultural Scholarship

National Poultry & Food Distributors Association Scholarship

The NPFDA awards five scholarships at $4000 per student to upcoming juniors and seniors in the fields of poultry science, food science, agricultural economics/marketing, nutrition and all other areas of study related to the poultry industry. The Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarship for Culinary Education is given to qualified female applicants pursuing fulltime academic coursework in the fields of culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, 
agriculture and related areas of study. Applicants are judged on their career and academic goals and performance, leadership qualities, financial resourcefulness, volunteer and community involvement in the culinary world, and references. U of M Women's Club Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Women's Club Scholarship (typical amount is $2500) is awarded to students who are MN residents, and have demonstrated academic ability and leadership experience, and a breadth of skills, interests, and extracurricular activities. To be considered for this scholarship a student must be a full-time Twin Cities undergraduate with sophomore, junior or senior status, 3.2 GPA, MN resident, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Student Finance. Dr. Nancy "Rusty" Barcelo Scholarship

National Association of Farm Broadcasting Foundation Scholarship, $5000

Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student prior to application deadline and be enrolled in or transferring to an agricultural communications curriculum with concentration and/or application in broadcast media.
