Horticultural Research Institute Scholarships

Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships $500

Deadline to apply: September 30, 2022

Farm Bureau awards several scholarships at the annual meeting in November. Eligible applicants include any person who is a Farm Bureau member or qualifies under their family's membership. Applicants must be going into their junior or senior year in college and be enrolled in a program related agriculture, conservation, or forestry. Learn more. 


Merjent Foundation Scholarships

The David Campbell Academic Scholarship and the Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship are one-time scholarships awarded to individuals who demonstrate academic success and intend to pursue a career in an environmental field. Learn more.

Yenching Academy Scholarships

Cover the cost of a Master’s degree in China Studies at Peking University. Successful applicants will have outstanding academic records, strong records of leadership and public service, and clearly defined plans for study in China. Learn more.


Craig Sallstrom Memorial Scholarship $1000

Deadline to apply: November 1, 2022

This scholarship will be awarded by the Minnesota Crop Production Retailers (MCPR) to a student entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in a major focused on crop production. Applicant must be a Minnesota resident; application involves two short essays, one letter of recommendation and official transcript. Download the application from the MCPR website.


Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC) Diversity Scholarship


Deadline to apply: November 1, 2022

The Diversity Scholarship seeks to provide financial support for both undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented groups in the agriculture teacher field. Undergraduate students must be entering their first or second year of an Agricultural Education-Teacher Licensure program in Minnesota, which includes incoming freshmen, transfer students (transferring colleges/universities or majors), and current students. U of M Asian American and Pacific Islander Scholarship

The AANAPISI Scholarship is open to all U of M undergraduates who identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander (AAPI). Scholarship awards range from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $5,000 awards. Learn more.


Lake Minnetonka Garden Club Scholarship

Lake Minnetonka Garden Club (LMGC) will provide up to $2,500 annually, awarded to one student or divided between two students. Scholarships will be awarded on merit with consideration given to GPA, letters of recommendation, community activities, associations or organizations, work experience and plans after graduation. Goldwater Scholarships

$7,500 toward undergraduate educational expenses for sophomores and juniors in STEM fields with outstanding academic records and significant research experience who plan to have careers related to research. Learn more.


Foundation for Environmental Agriculture Education (FEAE) Scholarships

Deadline to apply: December 1, 2022

Three scholarships are available for undergraduates pursuing a four-year degree in a major or discipline related to crop production, such as soil science, agronomy, entomology, horticulture, plant pathology, weed science, or crop science. Learn more.


NCGA William C. Berg Academic Excellence Scholarship

The National Corn Growers Association and BASF Corporation will award five $1,500 scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in any field. Applicant must be entering at least his/her second undergraduate year at an accredited college or university. Applicant must be an NCGA member or son/daughter of an NCGA member. Learn more.

Boren Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: 2023 deadline TBA

Up to $20,000 for study abroad with a focus on immersive language study, especially in those languages identified as critical by the State Department. Applicants interested in careers with the U.S. government are favored, and all recipients must commit to a year of service related to national security. Learn more.


Minnesota Corn Growers Association Scholarships

MCGA will award four $5,000 scholarships to full-time post-secondary students pursuing a career or degree in an agriculture-related field. Students must be young-adult MCGA members ($20 annual membership fee) to be eligible for a scholarship. Learn more.


Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) Young Leader Scholarship Program

The MACA Young Leader Scholarship Program (YLSP) is designed to expose future agriculturalists to the crop protection industry and future career opportunities. Recipients will benefit from exposure and networking with MACA members for potential job opportunities as well as financial compensation. Candidates will be top-potential collegiate sophomores or juniors with an educational focus on agriculture. Candidates must be enrolled at one of the 14 Land-Grant Universities and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably within the crop protection industry. Recipients will receive a $2,000 scholarship plus an all-expenses travel stipend to attend the MACA Annual Meeting in Missouri in 2022. Learn more.

Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association Scholarship

The UMDIA Gene Watnaas Scholarship Fund provides a $1000 scholarships for students pursuing a degree in Animal Science with emphasis in dairy, Dairy Science, Food Animal Veterinary Medicine, Dairy Manufacturing, Dairy Technology or Dairy Food Science. (Other degree programs may be considered if there is strong evidence of commitment and contribution to the dairy industry.) Learn more.


The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship

The Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer. Central Minnesota Farm Show Scholarships

The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce will be awarding at least five scholarships at $1,000 each for undergraduates enrolled in an agricultural related program. Astronaut Scholarships

Up to $10,000. Open to sophomores and juniors in STEM fields with records of academic achievement, productive research, and leadership who plan to have careers related to research. Learn more.


A.I. Johnson Scholarship

Deadline to apply: 2023 deadline TBA

An award of up to $10,000 - open to all undergraduates in all colleges at the University of Minnesota.  Applicants must show evidence of a strong interest in public affairs, with an intention to pursue a career or avocational activities in public affairs, including any kind of community volunteer activity, organizing to affect public policy, service on government advisory committees, and service in elective offices. The selected students commit to completing 400 hours in an off-campus public service internship. Students are not expected to have an internship confirmed at the time of application but they must obtain a public service internship to receive the scholarship. Learn more.


NUASF EE Mecklenburg Environmental Scholarship

The Minnesota American Fisheries Society chapter will award a $900 scholarship to junior or senior pursuing a degree in fisheries, water resources, aquatic biology, or aquatic environmental science at a Minnesota college or university. Learn more.


Pioneer Heritage Conservation Trust Scholarship

Western Reserve Herb Society Scholarship for Plant Sciences

Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation Scholarship

This $5,000 scholarship aims to promote diversity by assisting students interested in a career in environmental and/or sustainability fields. Applicant should be attending a Minnesota school or be a resident of Minnesota. Learn more.


Targeting Excellence Scholarships

$2,000 scholarships are available for students completing a 4-year degree in an agricultural program. Preference will be given to applicants with a desire to work in some aspect of food animal production. Learn more.


Chicagoland Food Science Foundation Scholarship

A $5,000 for students pursuing a career in the food industry. Applicant must have a permanent address in the Chicagoland area. Learn more.
 


The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Scholarship in Entrepreneurship

The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship honors the legacy of Lynn Johnson, founder of the St. Paul-based Johnson Brothers Liquor Company. The scholarship will support full-time UMTC juniors and seniors, with financial need, who have a strong, demonstrated interest in entrepreneurial initiatives. As many as 5 new scholarships will be awarded at up to $5,000 for the academic year to help cover students’ cost of attendance.

Katherine E. Sullivan Scholarship

The Katherine E. Sullivan Scholarship supports a full year of study abroad for students who will have completed at least 120 credits of academic work by the end of the spring semester 2022 and will have finished all graduation requirements by the end of the proposed study abroad experience. Students who are in their third year of undergraduate education are especially encouraged to apply. Learn more.


Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry Scholarship

For students entering Junior or Senior year; the successful applicant will be from the greater Rochester area which includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore,Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona. The succesful applicant has demonstrated leadership and communication skills and is pursuing a career in sustainable agriculture and/or forestry. See application for more information.


Truman Scholarship

University of Minnesota Scholarship in Honor of George Floyd

A scholarship of up to $4,000 Candidates are eligible to b.e considered for this scholarship if they are currently registered full-time in an undergraduate degree-seeking program at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.To the maximum extent possible, preference will be given to students who will enhance the diversity of the student body as described by the University. In evaluating student body diversity, after the eligible pool of candidates is selected, an additional consideration will be given to Black or African American students, as of the current term, spring 2022, these students are underrepresented at the University.

Minnesota Pork Industry Scholarship

The Minnesota Pork Board will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to individuals who are pursuing careers with an emphasis in pork. Among qualifying educational pursuits are agribusiness, agricultural engineering, agronomy, animal science, animal physiology, environmental sciences, nutrition, livestock reproduction, large animal veterinary medicine and other related fields. Minnesota Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarships $1000

The Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarship for Culinary Education is given to qualified female applicants pursuing full time academic coursework in the fields of culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, 
agriculture and related areas of study. Applicants are judged on their career and academic goals and performance, leadership qualities, financial resourcefulness, volunteer and community involvement in the culinary world, and references. U of M Women's Club Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Women's Club Scholarship is awarded to students who are MN residents, and have demonstrated academic ability and leadership experience, and a breadth of skills, interests, and extracurricular activities. To be considered for this scholarship a student must be a full-time Twin Cities undergraduate with sophomore, junior or senior status, 3.2 GPA, MN resident, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Student Finance. National Association of Farm Broadcasting Foundation Scholarship

Women in Agribusiness Scholarships defray the cost of attending the annual WIA Summit for students who have shown a strong interest in developing a career in the agribusiness industry.
