Mugget Scholarship

Deadline to apply: September 10, 2020

A $1,000 scholarship for students who are in their sophomore year or above and who plan to work in nursery operation, landscape architecture/design, horticultural distribution or retail garden center. Learn more.


Spring Meadow Proven Winners Scholarship

Deadline to apply: September 10, 2020

Three scholarships, of up to $3,000 each, will be awarded to students who are in their sophomore year or above whose academic interests lie in woody plant production, wood plant propagation, and/or horticultural sales and marketing. Learn more.


Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships $500

Deadline to apply: September 30, 2020

Farm Bureau awards four $500 scholarships at the annual meeting in November. Eligible applicants include any person who is a Farm Bureau member or qualifies under their family's membership. Applicants must be going into their junior or senior year in college and be enrolled in agriculture, conservation, or forestry. Learn more. 


Merjent Foundation Scholarships

The David Campbell Academic Scholarship and the Merjent Foundation Academic Scholarship are one-time $2,500 and $1,000 scholarships awarded to individuals who demonstrate academic success and intend to pursue a career in an environmental field. Learn more.


Throlson American Bison Foundation Scholarships

Deadline to apply: October 1, 2020

The Throlson American Bison Foundation will award up to $10,000 in scholarships to outstanding college junior, senior or graduate students studying fields related to the bison industry. Learn more.


Gates-Cambridge Scholarships

Deadline to apply: 2020 deadline TBA

Covers the cost of a graduate degree program at Cambridge University for students in any academic discipline. Competitive applicants will have exceptional academic records, notable character, leadership and public service, and a strong rationale for studying at Cambridge. Learn more.


Craig Sallstrom Memorial Scholarship $1000

Deadline to apply: November 1, 2020

This scholarship will be awarded by the Minnesota Crop Production Retailers (MCPR)to a student entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in a major focused on crop production. Applicant must be a Minnesota resident; application involves two short essays, one letter of recommendation and official transcript. Download the application from the MCPR website.


Yenching Academy Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: November 9, 2020

Cover the cost of a Master’s degree in China Studies at Peking University. Successful applicants will have outstanding academic records, strong records of leadership and public service, and clearly defined plans for study in China. Learn more.


U of M Asian American and Pacific Islander Scholarship

Deadline to apply: November 11, 2020

The AANAPISI Scholarship is open to all U of M undergraduates who identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander (AAPI). Scholarship awards range from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $5,000 awards. Learn more.


Lake Minnetonka Garden Club Scholarship

Deadline to apply: November 20, 2020

Lake Minnetonka Garden Club (LMGC) will provide up to $2500 annually, awarded to one student or divided between two students. Scholarships will be awarded on merit with consideration given to GPA, letters of recommendation, community activities, associations or organizations, work experience and plans after graduation. Goldwater Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: November 23, 2020

$7500 toward undergraduate educational expenses for sophomores and juniors in STEM fields with outstanding academic records and significant research experience who plan to have careers related to research. Learn more.


Foundation for Environmental Agriculture Education (FEAE) Scholarships

Deadline to apply: December 1, 2020

Three scholarships are available for undergraduates pursuing a four-year degree in a major or discipline related to crop production, such as soil science, agronomy, entomology, horticulture, plant pathology, weed science, or crop science. Learn more.


NCGA William C. Berg Academic Excellence Scholarship

Deadline to apply: December 4, 2020

The National Corn Growers Association and BASF Corporation will award five $1,500 scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in any field. Applicant must be entering at least his/her second undergraduate year at an accredited college or university. Applicant must be an NCGA member or son/daughter of an NCGA member. Learn more.


Avacare Medical Scholarship $1000

Boren Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: January 4, 2021

Up to $20,000 for study abroad with a focus on immersive language study, especially in those languages identified as critical by the State Department. Applicants interested in careers with the U.S. government are favored, and all recipients must commit to a year of service related to national security. Learn more.


Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) Young Leader Scholarship Program

Deadline to apply: January 22, 2021

Candidates will be top-potential collegiate sophomores or juniors with an educational focus on agriculture. Candidates must be enrolled at one of the 14 Land-Grant Universities and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably within the crop protection industry. Recipients will receive a $2,000 scholarship plus an all-expenses travel stipend to attend the MACA Annual Meeting in Missouri in 2021, if held in-person. Applications are submitted to the CFANS Scholarship Coordinator; the college will submit up to 3 finalists to MACA for final selection.


Udall Scholarships

Deadline for campus nomination: January 22, 2021

$7,000. Open to Sophomores and Juniors working toward solutions to environmental challenges or Native American students planning careers in tribal policy or health care. Learn more.


Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association Scholarship

Deadline to apply: January 31, 2021 

The UMDIA Gene Watnaas Scholarship Fund provides up to two $1000 scholarships for students pursuing a degree in Animal Science with dairy production emphasis or Dairy Food Science. Learn more.


The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship

Deadline to apply: February 1, 2021

The Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer. Successful applicants should be a full-time 2nd year student with a 3.0 minimum GPA. See the NOAA website for full application details.


National Garden Clubs Scholarships $4000

Deadline to apply: February 1, 2021

Central Minnesota Farm Show Scholarships

Deadline to apply: February 1, 2021 

The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce will be awarding at least five scholarships at $1000 each for undergraduates enrolled in an agricultural related program. Limited to students who graduated from high school in central Minnesota counties. See the website for eligible counties and application.

Up to $10,000. Open to sophomores and juniors in STEM fields with records of academic achievement, productive research, and leadership who plan to have careers related to research. Learn more.


Horticulture Scholarship of the Western Reserve Herb Society

Awarded by the Western Reserve Herb Society. For students with demonstrated financial need and plans a career in horticulture and allied fields.  Applicant must have completed two full years of college and have achieved a GPA of 3.2+ to be eligible. See details and application.


Cargill Global Scholars Program

Deadline to apply: March 4, 2021 

The Cargill Global Scholars Program is a distinctive, 2-year scholarship and enrichment program providing financial support, mentorship, and the unique opportunity for U.S. college students to travel to two leadership development seminars, including meeting fellow Global Scholars from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, and Russia. A.I. Johnson Scholarship

Deadline to apply: March 5, 2021

An award of up to $10,000 - open to all undergraduates in all colleges at the University of Minnesota.  Applicants must show evidence of a strong interest in public affairs, with an intention to pursue a career or avocational activities in public affairs, including any kind of community volunteer activity, organizing to affect public policy, service on government advisory committees, and service in elective offices. The selected students commit to completing 400 hours in an off-campus public service internship. Students are not expected to have an internship confirmed at the time of application but they must obtain a public service internship to receive the scholarship. Learn more.


Intertribal Timber Council Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program $2500

Deadline to apply: March 12, 2021 

The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program is dedicated to the support of Native American/Alaskan students pursuing a higher education in Natural Resources.  The application involves a letter, resume, transcript and evidence of enrollment, as well as three reference letters. The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Scholarship in Entrepreneurship

Deadline to apply: March 15, 2021 

The Lynn Johnson – Johnson Brothers Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship honors the legacy of Lynn Johnson, founder of the St. Paul-based Johnson Brothers Liquor Company. The scholarship will support full-time UMTC juniors and seniors, with financial need, who have a strong, demonstrated interest in entrepreneurial initiatives. As many as 5 new scholarships will be awarded at up to $5000 for the academic year to help cover students’ cost of attendance.

Targeting Excellence Scholarships $2000

Deadline to apply: March 29, 2021 

$2000 scholarships are available for students completing a 4-year degree in an agricultural program. Preference will be given to applicants with a desire to work in some aspect of food animal production. For more information, visit the Targeting Excellence website.


Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry Scholarship $5000

Deadline to apply: March 30, 2021

For students entering Junior or Senior year; the successful applicant will be from the greater Rochester area which includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore,Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona. The succesful applicant has demonstrated leadership and communication skills and is pursuing a career in sustainable agriculture and/or forestry. See application for more information.

Farmer's Business Network Scholarship Program

Jeannine Kuhl Memorial Gamebird Industry Scholarship

The 2020 scholarship is offered in memorial to the late Jeannine Kuhl, whose work with Kuhl Corp has been an essential part of the gamebird industry. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase awareness,and support career opportunities in the gamebird industry. Consideration may also include applicants with an interest in strongly related fields like upland gamebird hunting clubs, vet sci or vet research programs. Proven Winners Horticulture Scholarship $5000

Deadline to apply: April 15, 2021 

At least three $5,000 scholarships will be awarded annually for innovations in plant breeding, horticultural marketing, and grower excellence. Applicants must be at least a sophomore and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. See eligibility and application details.


Ecolab Scholars Program

GIE Media Horticultural Scholarship Program

GIE Media is awarding two $2,500 scholarships to undergraduates working toward a degree in horticulture, environmental science or other field related to a segment of the green industry. Learn more.

 


Minnesota Pork Industry Scholarship

Deadline to apply: May 15, 2021

The Minnesota Pork Board will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to individuals who are pursuing careers with an emphasis in pork. Among qualifying educational pursuits are agribusiness, agricultural engineering, agronomy, animal science, animal physiology, environmental sciences, nutrition, livestock reproduction, large animal veterinary medicine and other related fields. Minnesota Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarships $1000

The Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarship for Culinary Education is given to qualified female applicants pursuing full time academic coursework in the fields of culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, 
agriculture and related areas of study. Applicants are judged on their career and academic goals and performance, leadership qualities, financial resourcefulness, volunteer and community involvement in the culinary world, and references. Must be a Minnesota resident or nominated by a member of the Minnesota Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier. Learn more.


U of M Women's Club Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Women's Club Scholarship (typical amount is $2500) is awarded to students who are MN residents, and have demonstrated academic ability and leadership experience, and a breadth of skills, interests, and extracurricular activities. To be considered for this scholarship a student must be a full-time Twin Cities undergraduate with sophomore, junior or senior status, 3.2 GPA, MN resident, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Student Finance. Dr. Nancy "Rusty" Barcelo Scholarship

National Association of Farm Broadcasting Foundation Scholarship, $5000

Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student prior to application deadline and be enrolled in or transferring to an agricultural communications curriculum with concentration and/or application in broadcast media.
