The 2023 CFANS state fair exhibit—Feeding a Growing Population, Protecting the Planet—received a Gold Award from the University of Minnesota Communicators Forum. The exhibit was recognized in the Campaign, Series, or Event category as an “exemplary” communications and marketing project. The award was presented last week at Homegrown U, the 2024 UMCF conference.

The judges praised the exhibit for its vast outreach with varied opportunities for engagement, including an immersive 360° video that follows a protein-rich pea from the field to the dinner table, hands-on pop-up learning activities hosted by CFANS student groups and departments, and photo opportunities with Goldy Gopher.

Planning is underway for this year's CFANS state fair exhibit, and the CFANS community has an opportunity to share CFANS science with visitors from across the state and beyond. Sign up for a volunteer shift and receive a free admission ticket to the Fair and a CFANS T-shirt.
