Student group spotlight: Meet the Block & Bridle Club
Founded in 1920, the Block & Bridle Club is one of the oldest clubs on the Twin Cities campus. Block & Bridle is a great place to meet other students with a strong interest in animal agriculture and to get involved on the St. Paul campus. The University of Minnesota Block & Bridle Club is affiliated with the National Block & Bridle Club.
With 51 members currently, Block & Bridle works to:
- Ensure a higher scholastic standard and a more complete understanding of animal agriculture
- Develop programs that will supplement the study of animal sciences on the collegiate level
- Enhance professionalism of students who will be leaders in the animal agriculture industry
- Promote close relationships among all students pursuing animal agriculture as a profession
"Within our club we hold many different activities like the barbeque during State FFA; we also help with stall cleaning in the fall, in the spring we host a ham sale, and we have had many guest speakers who come and share their experiences. We are a fully student run organization that puts on three livestock shows during the spring and summer months," said Block & Bridle student board representative Makayla Moline. "We are proud to organize the Minnesota Junior Spring Classic Cattle Show, the University of Minnesota Block and Bridle Sheep and Goat Showdown, and the University of Minnesota Block and Bridle Swine Show."
