Welcome to Heidi Roop, Assistant Professor of Climate Science
We extend a warm CFANS welcome to Heidi Roop, PhD, who starts in her new position as an assistant professor of climate science in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate and Extension specialist today. In her new role, Heidi will conduct applied research related to climate change and develop an Extension program to communicate critical climate and meteorological information useful for decision making in agricultural production, forestry, and management of natural resources with a primary focus on climate adaptation. She completed her PhD in geology in 2015 at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and since 2017 has been the lead scientist for science communication with the University of Washington Climate Impacts Group. Heidi was hired with Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Tech Transfer (AGREETT) program funding, and we look forward to the contributions she’ll make to our community in the years to come.
