February 24, 2021
At a joint meeting Tuesday, the Minnesota House and Senate higher education committees picked two finalists for each of the four seats on the university's governing board, teeing up a final vote by the full Legislature. CFANS alumni Val Aarsvold, agricultural education, BS '94, and Doug Huebsch, agricultural economics, BS '85, are among the finalists. Minnesota FFA Executive Director Aarsvold, of Altura, is up for the First Congressional District seat. Huebsch, a fourth-generation family farmer from Perham who served on the University of Minnesota Alumni Association's board of directors from 2014 to 2020, was named a finalist for the Seventh District seat.
