CFANS Diversity Enriched Curriculum officially launches Fall 2021

April 21, 2021

This coming fall, CFANS will enter its first semester of the Diversity Enriched Curriculum (DEC) initiative by offering four courses recently approved for the Diversity Enriched (DE) designator.

DEC is built upon the Working Across Difference Initiative (WADI) and Teaching Across Difference (TAD) programs and offers faculty a framework for intentionally developing undergraduate courses that incorporate the essential tools for fostering diversity learning, cultural awareness, non-judgmental examination, and critical thinking.

The goal of the DEC initiative is the development of robust and scaffolded diversity learning curricula that's embedded in CFANS majors. In these early stages of developing DEC, the focus is on course development with the intention and purpose of structuring and sequencing DEC courses throughout the undergraduate experience, leading to diversity and interculturally competent graduates.
