What qualifies as first generation?

The formal definition of a first-generation college student is a student whose parent(s)/guardian(s) did not complete a four-year college degree. (They could have attended some college or no college at all. A student's sibling(s) could have also earned their bachelor's degree but not their parent(s)/guardians.)
