CFANS welcomes new Director of Student Services

Hal DeLaRosby

Hal DeLaRosby, Ph.D., recently joined CFANS as the Director of Student Services. You might not be familiar with the work of the Director of Student Services, but you are likely familiar with the people Hal works with daily. If you have participated in orientation, interacted with an admissions counselor, or met with an academic advisor, then you have engaged with CFANS Student Services team members.  As Director, Hal works to enhance the student experience for you and all CFANS undergraduate students, and assists in creating a sense of belonging for you and supports you in persisting through graduation.
As a college student himself, Hal was a Track & Field student athlete (400m and 4x400m relay), an admissions tour guide, and an orientation guide. Hal found his college experience so transformational that he asked his advisor, “How can I stay in college the rest of my life?” so he could provide positive experiences for new college students. This question led him to continuing his education and completing a master’s degree in College Student Personnel at Western Illinois University (IL) and a doctoral degree in Higher Education – Student Success from Azusa Pacific University (CA).
Originally from Two Harbors, MN, Hal brings over 15 years of higher education experience having worked at Wartburg College (IA), University of Wisconsin-Platteville (WI), Pacific Lutheran University (WA), and Western Kentucky University (KY) in residence life and academic advising.  Additionally, Hal has taught several courses, including short-term study away classes to London, UK.
You are invited to connect with Hal by visiting him in his Coffey Hall 190 office.
