CFANS turns up the volume for the U.S. Farm Report College Roadshow
On October 16, 2025, CFANS welcomed Tyne Morgan and the U.S. Farm Report team to campus for the third consecutive year of the U.S. Farm Report College Roadshow at the University of Minnesota. The event brought together students, faculty, alumni, staff, and agricultural experts for a morning filled with learning, celebration, and spirited competition.
The day began with an engaging alumni chat hosted by CFANS, where graduates reconnected over coffee and conversation. Morgan joined the gathering, greeting alumni and sharing reflections on the evolving landscape of agriculture and media. Her presence added a personal touch to the morning, and alumni appreciated the opportunity to speak directly with the host of one of the nation’s most-watched farm news programs.
Following the coffee chat, alumni joined students and faculty for the taping of a dynamic panel discussion featuring CFANS agricultural economists: CFANS Dean Brian Buhr; Agricultural Economics Professor Ed Usset; and Center for Farm Financial Management Associate Director and Extension Economist Pauline Van Nurden. Moderated by Morgan, the panel explored key issues in agriculture, including market volatility and the current issues farmers are facing.
Tyne featured CFANS research in four additional segments showcasing the breadth of research and innovation happening across the College. Viewers met Professor Aaron Lorenz from the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics, who shared insights on soybean breeding and genetics; Associate Professor Jay Amamcharla and Research Professional Mitch Maher from Food Science and Nutrition, who highlighted advances in dairy processing and product development; Assistant Professor Nate Eylands from Horticultural Science, who demonstrated cutting-edge hydroponic systems; and CFANS students and faculty gathered at the beloved bronze bull sculptures on the St. Paul campus.
CFANS students brought high energy to the event, cheering enthusiastically and showcasing their creativity in a sign-making competition sponsored by Beck’s Hybrids. The signs—ranging from clever slogans to colorful ag-themed artwork—added visual excitement to the taping and highlighted student pride.
Student groups also took part in a spirited social media challenge to showcase their CFANS pride and promote the Roadshow online. The Soil Judging Team earned top honors, receiving a $1,500 award from Beck’s Hybrids in support of their organization.
Hot chocolate and hot apple cider kept attendees warm as they mingled and celebrated the return of the Roadshow. The event not only spotlighted CFANS’ commitment to agricultural education but also fostered community and connection among students, alumni, faculty and industry leaders.
The U.S. Farm Report College Roadshow has become a highlight of the CFANS fall calendar, offering a unique opportunity to engage with national media and agricultural thought leaders. The 2025 edition once again proved why CFANS is a hub for innovation, collaboration, and agricultural excellence. Ski-U-Mah and cheers to welcoming the Roadshow back to campus in fall 2026!
