Welcoming FFA students to campus | Fall 2025 UMN Invitational

October 9, 2025

More than 600 students from 57 Minnesota FFA chapters visited the St. Paul campus this week for the annual UMN Invitational—a day centered on nine competitive events including dairy, livestock, poultry, and soils judging, along with several leadership development events. The College hosted "Taste of CFANS," giving students an opportunity to connect through hands-on activities and tours including the Raptor Center, Plant Growth Facilities and Aquaculture Lab.

Many thanks to the faculty, staff, student and alumni volunteers who coordinated the competitions:

  • Dairy: Tony Seykora, Isaac Haagen, Isaac Salfer, and Gopher Dairy Club members
  • Livestock: Kyle Rozeboom and the Livestock Judging Team members
  • Poultry: Luna Akhtar and Mary Hoffman
  • Soils: Kari Wolf
  • Creed: Sarah Dornink
  • Prepared Public Speaking: Kari Schwab
  • Extemporaneous Speaking: Brad Greiman
  • Conduct of Chapter Meetings: Joel Larsen
  • Parliamentary Procedure: Kevin Dahlman

When all was said and done, chickens and eggs were graded, cows and data analyzed, cattle, sheep, and pigs judged, soil evaluated, speeches delivered, and parliamentary procedure demonstrated... quite a showcase of FFA talent!
