Welcoming the 2025 SOAR REEU cohort

2025 SOAR REEU students

This summer, CFANS is excited to host a new cohort of undergraduate researchers as part of the Sustainability Opportunities in Agricultural Research (SOAR) Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates (REEU) program.

SOAR REEU offers undergraduate students—from St. Paul to Northern California to Florida—a hands-on introduction to research in sustainable agriculture, food systems, and plant and soil science. Over the course of the summer, these students will work alongside CFANS mentors and research teams, contributing to ongoing projects while building foundational skills for careers in sustainable food and agricultural systems.

The program is designed to be a transformative experience—one that not only deepens students’ understanding of key sustainability challenges but also helps them build the confidence and professional networks that will support their future academic and career goals.

We are grateful to the many CFANS faculty, graduate students, researchers, and support staff who are mentoring SOAR students this summer. Your commitment to education, inclusion, and scientific discovery is what makes programs like this possible. Thank you for helping us create a welcoming, enriching environment for the next generation of scientists and changemakers.

If you see SOAR REEU students around campus or in the field, please join us in giving them a warm CFANS welcome!
